Abstract
The police-based victim service programs described are those of the Canadian jurisdictions of Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Region of Waterloo. Materials pertinent to program planning (assessing need, planning goals, and choosing options) are a sample victim needs questionnaire, a sample agency questionnaire, and the executive summary of a study for the planning of victim assistance services in Richmond, British Columbia. Resources for service activities, special victims, and rural programs include a description of domestic violence services in rural communities, samples of form letters that provide information to crime victims, a sample agency referral form, and an information and application pamphlet on victim restitution. Other materials relate to program organization and administration, police and community acceptance of the program, and volunteers in victim programs. 111-item bibliography.
