This booklet describes services offered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and provides an overview of dispute resolution processes, their benefits, and users.
Abstract
Following a brief history of the AAA, the booklet reviews alternative dispute resolution procedures: arbitration, expedited procedures, mediation, med-arb, minitrial, and factfinding. The advantages of arbitration are explored, such as speed, economy, privacy, and flexibility. Other topics considered include arbitrators' and mediators' qualifications and types of disputes that use the AAA's services and procedures. Steps in both mediation and arbitration are outlined. The booklet describes special programs offered by AAA, trends in its caseload, and miscellaneous services involving information, training, and the conduct of elections. Standard contract clauses developed by the AAA are provided. AAA staff and offices are listed.
