THIS PAMPHLET INCLUDES THREE ARTICLES WHICH PRESENT PERSONAL APPROACHES TO THE THEORIES AND PRACTICES OF RESIDENTIAL CARE, AND DRAW ATTENTION TO SOME OF THE PROBLEMS FACING STAFF IN RESIDENTIAL WORK.
Abstract
THE PAPERS PRESENTED IN THIS PAMPHLET WERE BASED ON TALKS GIVEN BY THE AUTHORS TO THE NACRO (NATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR THE CARE AND REHABILITATION OF OFFENDERS) TRAINING PROGRAMMES FOR STAFF OF RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS. THE FIRST PAPER DISCUSSES THE PROBLEM OF SIMPLISTIC MODELS OF RESIDENTIAL CARE, WHILE THE SECOND INVESTIGATES THE FACTORS WHICH CAUSE 'DIFFICULT' BEHAVIOR IN RESIDENTS AND THE MANAGEMENT OF THIS BEHAVIOR. IN THE FINAL PAPER, THE AUTHOR DISCUSSES THE VARIOUS MODELS OF RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS AND EXPLORES THE WAYS IN WHICH THESE PROGRAMS MAY SERVE AS LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS FOR THE RESIDENTS.
