This booklet is about the organizational structure and activities of the Research Unit on Criminology and Criminal Investigation within the Federal Criminal Police Office, West Germany.
Abstract
Included are descriptions of divisions named for the following purposes: Policy Matters and Information Services; Crime Analysis and Crime Statistics; The Nature and Patterns of Offending, Offenders, and Crime Prevention; Police Methods; and Law and Police Practice. A list of publications, and brief summaries of the personnel structure, budget, and completed and current research projects are provided. In 1991 and 1992, the unit completed the following projects: Drug-Related Crime by Drug Users; Police Investigation of Environmental Offences; Crime and Law Enforcement in Japan; Police Investigation of Criminal Insolvency; Theft Resulting from Heightened Opportunity; and Victims of Reported Crime--Their Expectations, Needs, and Perspectives. As of publication, the following projects were still in progress: Implementation of Research Output-- Optimizing the Approach of target Groups; Prevention Models in the Field of Drug Offences; Effectiveness and Efficiency of Task Forces; and Logistics of Organized Crime. The outlook for 1993-1994 was increasing internationalization of research.
