THIS PAPER IDENTIFIES AND DISCUSSES NINE AREAS OF NEEDED STUDY RELATING TO HOW TO BUILD SCHOOL SECURITY SYSTEMS WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY DEVELOPING A SENSE OF COMMUNITY, ESPECIALLY WITHIN AND AROUND LARGER URBAN HIGH SCHOOLS.
Abstract
THE GENERAL STUDIES SUGGESTED INCLUDED A NATIONALLY-BASED RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT EFFORT TO UPGRADE THE QUALITY OF SCHOOL SECURITY INCIDENT INFORMATION BEING MADE AVAILABLE TO SCHOOL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES. SOME AREAS OF NEEDED SPECIFIC RESEARCH GIVEN THE HIGHEST PRIORITY ARE WAYS IN WHICH STUDENT GROUPINGS WITHIN SECONDARY SCHOOLS CAN PROVIDE THE BASE FOR A FORMALLY DEFINED STUDENT ORGANIZATION WHICH COULD PERFORM PRIMARY SECURITY FUNCTIONS WITHIN THE SCHOOL, AND THE SPECIAL SAFETY ROLES AND SAFETY ROLE PROBLEMS OF THE PRINCIPAL AND THE TEACHER.
