SUMMARY OF A UNITED NATIONS SEMINAR IN WHICH PARTICIPANTS FOCUSED ON THE QUESTION OF THE WAY CRIMINOLOGICAL RESEARCH SHOULD BE ORGANIZED TO RENDER MAXIMUM BENEFITS TO POLICY MAKERS AND ADMINISTRATORS.
Abstract
IN THIS SEMINAR, SPECIAL EMPHASIS WAS GIVEN TO ESTABLISHING CHANNELS OF COMMUNICATION THAT WOULD PERMIT RESEARCH RESULTS TO BE UNDERSTOOD AND UTILIZED IN SOCIAL DEFENSE PLANNING, AND DEVELOPING PROCEDURES BY WHICH POLICY MAKERS, PLANNERS AND ADMINISTRATORS MIGHT PASS ON THEIR REQUIREMENTS FOR INFORMATION UPON WHICH THEIR DECISIONS COULD BE BASED. AMONG THE SPECIFIC TOPICS ADDRESSED WERE IDENTIFYING POLICY NEEDS AND RESEARCH RESOURCES, ORGANIZATION OF RESEARCH, ACTION RESEARCH IN CRIME PREVENTION AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE, EVALUATIVE RESEARCH, TRAINING IN ACTION RESEARCH RELATED TO CRIME, AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION IN RESEARCH AND PLANNING FOR CRIME PREVENTION AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE.
