This document tells how New York State's Systems Improvements for Enhanced Community Safety (SIFECS) program has carried out initiatives to improve criminal justice information systems and outlines the program's plans for the next five years.
Abstract
In fiscal year 1988-1989 the SIFECS received $11.5 million, and a requirement that it submit a detailed report of its progress and future plans to the New York State Finance Committee and the Assembly Ways and Means Committee. The report details the progress of SIFECS in large scale implementation of information systems improvements in the operation of State and local criminal justice agencies. To date all New York State criminal justice agencies are automated. A summary of the progress of individual agencies and divisions in implementing SIFECS goals is included. The document also includes a five year plan for the systematic and strategic improvement of the State's criminal justice information systems and a detailed progress report on the first four years of SIFECS operation.
