Abstract
THE UPGRADE OF NLETS ALLUDED TO IN THE TITLE OF THIS ARTICLE WAS CONDUCTED FROM 4 SEPT. 1973 TO 24 DEC. 1974; IT INVOLVED SUCH IMPROVEMENTS AS CREATING A BACK-UP SYSTEM FOR RELIABILITY, GREATLY INCREASING THROUGHPUT AND SWITCHING SPEED, PROVIDING COMPUTER-TO-COMPUTER INTERFACE AND DATA BASE ACCESS FOR THE FIRST TIME, AND CHANGING THE SYSTEM FROM A LOW-SPEED TELETYPE NETWORK TO A TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORK.
