Abstract
The first section presents a narrative, graphic, and tabular overview of statewide statistics on criminal offenses and arrests for 1984. The tables and figures in the second section depict total offenses and arrests reported for 1984; the data are categorized as 'Part I -- Index Crime' and 'Part II Crime.' Data are broken down by type of circumstance, the force element, monetary loss, and victim profiles. The third section comparatively ranks Oregon counties by population, crime volume, and crime rate for 1984. A 10-year historical profile (1975-84) of reported offenses is also presented for the State and each county. The fourth section provides information on the number of persons arrested for each offense in the State and each county in 1984. The fifth section provides statistics on law enforcement personnel by type of employment, type of department, and by total number for the State and each county. The concluding section presents (1) a summary of the annual crime report information for each department and each county and (2) a detailed report by crime category on the annual report information for each department and county. Appendixes contain abbreviated Uniform Crime Reporting definitions and a description of statistical methods.
