The activities of 2006-2007 and the work program for 2008 are presented under each of UNICRI's major components. Part I of the report focuses on UNICRI's Liaison Office in Rome, Italy. Among its functions are to provide action-oriented research and training related to the United Nations program on crime prevention and criminal justice, as well as to design and implement training activities at an interregional level and, upon request, at a national level. Further, it promotes the exchange of information by maintaining an international documentation center on criminology and related disciplines that disseminates information worldwide. This report provides information on specific activities conducted in 2006-2007. For 2008-2009, it will continue to act as a liaison with local institutions and civil society, as well as other United Nations bodies and agencies, in order to strengthen cooperation and organize joint events. Part II of this report focuses on UNICRI's Resources and Partnership Program. It advises the Director and other officials on management and administrative issues and provides direction and coordination of UNICRI's budget, accounts, human resources, information technology, and documentation/communication matters. Its activities for 2006-2007 and work program for 2008-2009 are presented under the following activities: administration, information technology, documentation, communication, and fundraising. Part III of this report features UNICRI's Applied Research Program.
