OUTLINE OF PRINCIPLES AND PROCEDURES FOR EFFECTIVE COORDINATION AND COOPERATION BETWEEN THE PROBATION WORKER AND THE PROBATION BOARD WHOSE ROLES TEND TO OVERLAP IN THE SUPERVISION AND TREATMENT OF PROBATIONERS.
Abstract
THE PROBATION CONTROL BOARD (FUERUNGSAUFSICHTSSTELLE) CONSISTS OF A JUDGE AS CHAIRMAN, AN OFFICIAL OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION, AND A SOCIAL WORKER, WHO IS THE ONLY ONE OCCUPIED EXCLUSIVELY WITH THE ACTIVITIES OF THE BOARD. ALTHOUGH THE BOARD AND THE PROBATION WORKER ARE JOINTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROBATION TREATMENT PROGRAM, THE BOARD IS CHIEFLY INVOLVED WITH INDIRECT ASSISTANCE TO THE CLIENT, COORDINATION OF TREATMENT AND OTHER MEASURES, AND MONITORING THE RECORD OF THE CLIENT'S BEHAVIOR. THE PROBATION WORKER CONCENTRATES ON DIRECT TREATMENT OF THE CLIENT WITH WHOM HE DEVELOPS A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP. --IN GERMAN
