The present study supports the conclusion that there is a positive relationship between perceived inmate exploitation and juvenile correctional worker burnout.
Abstract
The research examined 41 juvenile correctional workers using the Maslach Burnout Inventory and a Juvenile Worker Interaction instrument. In addition, comparisons were made between respondent and nonrespondent groups. Findings showed no significant difference between respondent and nonrespondent groups. Measured by the six scales of Maslach's Burnout Inventory, stress levels of the respondents fell within the moderate range. Staff anger accounted for a large percentage of burnouts. (Author abstract)
