The tenth anniversary of the creation of the Institute for Court Management provides an opportunity to reflect on developments in the 1970s as well as to speculate on what changes the next decade and beyond might bring.
Abstract
Drawing in part on a report on ICM's 1979 Wingspread Conference, this commentary identifies the initial goals set for ICM when its Board of Trustees first met at Wingspread in 1970 and comments on the court administration profession's institutionalization and contributions in the 1970s. Looking ahead to the 1980s, it suggests that the courts will increasingly need to nurture their relationships with their external environment, and notes the role that court administrators might play in this process.
