TWO RESEARCH PROBES WERE CONDUCTED TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ON FACTS AND PROBLEMS IN AGENCY PROCEDURES AND THOSE INDICATED BY CORRECTIONAL WORKERS THEMSELVES. MOST REMARKS CENTERED ON THE NEED FOR SMALLER CASE LOADS, HIGHER PAY, PROMOTION OPPORTUNITIES, LESS PAPER WORK, AND RECOGNITION AS PROFESSIONALS.
