A TEXTBOOK WHICH PROVIDES A GUIDE ON HOW TO READ, INTERPRET, AND EVALUATE THE RESEARCH OF OTHERS, INCLUDING DESCRIPTIONS OF THE ELEMENTS OF A RESEARCH REPORT AND METHODS OF REVIEWING RESEARCH REPORTS.
Abstract
A RATIONALE FOR EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH IS PRESENTED, AND THE VARIOUS TYPES OF RESEARCH ARE DESCRIBED. COMMON ELEMENTS OF A RESEARCH REPORT AND THE TYPE OF INFORMATION NORMALLY CONTAINED IN EACH ELEMENT ARE THEN REVIEWED. SUCH ELEMENTS AS OBJECTIVES, STUDY DESIGNS, TECHNIQUES FOR OBTAINING RESEARCH DATA, DATA ANALYSIS PROCEDURES, AND INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS ARE DISCUSSED. A SIMPLE PROCEDURE FOR EVALUATING A RESEARCH REPORT IS PRESENTED IN THE FINAL SECTION. ALSO INCLUDED IS A GLOSSARY OF TECHNICAL TERMS AND STATISTICAL SYMBOLS, AND A LIST OF SOURCES OF RESEARCH REPORTS AND REFERENCE WORKS.
