A STUDY DESIGNED TO FIND THE RECIDIVISM RATE FOR A SAMPLE OF RAPISTS WITHIN 22 YEARS OF THE FIRST CONVICTION FOR RAPE.
Abstract
STARTING WITH 119 ACCUSED RAPISTS, THE AUTHOR DISCUSSES THE 86 OUT OF THAT NUMBER WHO WERE CONVICTED. HE STATES THAT FIVE OF THESE WERE RECONVICTED OF ANOTHER RAPE OFFENSE AND THEN DISCUSSES EACH OF THESE CASES INDIVIDUALLY. HE GOES ON TO DISCUSS THE SUBSEQUENT CONVICTION RATES OF THE 23 ORIGINALLY ACQUITTED. THE AUTHOR MAINTAINS THAT HIS FINDINGS ENABLE ONE TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN BROAD BEHAVIORAL CLASSES OF RAPISTS.
