This letter is an update to a recent publication in the Forensic Science International Genetics journal, “Quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) assay for human–dog–cat species identification and nuclear DNA quantification”: S. Kanthaswamy, A. Premasuthan, et al.

Abstract

This triplex qPCR assay quantifies and identifies the presence of as little as 0.4 pg of human, feline and canine DNA in a mixed sample [ [1] ]. The assay did not include an Internal Positive Control (IPC) due to the three-dye limit in the Applied Biosystems 7300 machine. The assay is now modified to include an IPC using the 7500 Fast Real Time PCR system. 1 figure and 3 references (publisher abstract modified)
