A PROCEDURE FOR BEGINNING TO CURB THE GROWTH OF TRUANCY IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS IS EXAMINED IN THIS PAPER.
Abstract
PUPIL PERSONNEL WORKERS CAN PLAY A FUNDAMENTAL ROLE IN HELPING TO BRING ABOUT A CHANGE IN THE TRUANCY RATES IN INNER-CITY SCHOOLS, ACCORDING TO THE AUTHOR. THIS HOWEVER, REQUIRES A REDEFINITION OF THE ROLES AND ROLE RELATIONSHIPS IN SCHOOL SYSTEMS. THESE REDEFINITIONS INVOLVE STUDENT/STUDENT, AND PARENTS/EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION. BRINGING THE SCHOOLS CLOSER TO THE LARGER COMMUNITY WILL HELP IN THE TRUANCY PROBLEM, THE AUTHOR BELIEVES. IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT PUPIL PERSONNEL WORKERS BEGIN TO ADOPT MORE STRATEGIES OF THE CHANGE AGENT AND A MORE ACTIVE EXAMINATION OF THE TOTAL LIFE SPACE OF STUDENTS....BDS
