THIS PLAN REFLECTS PUERTO RICO'S COMPLIANCE WITH FEDERAL REGULATIONS COVERING ALL FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEMS WHICH ARE RECIPIENTS OF LEAA FUNDS.
Abstract
THE REGULATIONS ARE INTENDED TO INSURE THE INTEGRITY OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND THE PROTECTION OF INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS TO PRIVACY WITHOUT INFRINGING THE PUBLIC'S RIGHTS TO KNOW. ALL AGENCIES FALLING WITHIN THE PURVIEW OF THESE REGULATIONS MUST COMPLY WITH THE SAME BY DECEMBER 31, 1977, AND SUBMIT PLANS DETAILING HOW AND WHEN THE COMMONWEALTH OF PUERTO RICO, WILL IMPLEMENT THE PROVISIONS OF THE REGULATIONS AS AMENDED. AS OF JUNE 1976, THE COMMONWEALTH IS IMPLEMENTING A CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEM WHICH WILL PROCESS THE TYPE OF INFORMATION ADDRESSED IN THE FEDERAL REGULATIONS. THIS DOCUMENT INCLUDES STATEMENTS OF THE CURRENT LEVEL OF COMPLIANCE, A PLAN FOR THE FUTURE, AND CERTIFICATES AS PER THE FEDERAL REGULATIONS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED).
