TYPES OF PERSONALITY DISTURBANCES FOUND IN JUVENILE DELINQUENTS, A LIST OF PSYCHOTHERAPEUTIC APPROACHES TO THEM, AND 4 SAMPLE CASE HISTORIES OF GANG MEMBERS.
Abstract
BRIEF THEORETICAL OUTLINES ARE PROVIDED FOR THE FOLLOWING PERSONALITY DISTURBANCES - CONFLICT-DRIVER, FRUSTRATION-DOMINATED, NON-SOCIAL, OVER OR UNDERDEVELOPED INHIBITIONS, LIVING IN A DREAM WORLD, AND A CYNICAL LACK OF VALUES. THE AUTHOR FINDS MOST PATIENTS TO BE SUFFERING FROM A COMBINATION OF THESE DISTURBANCES WHICH REQUIRE A VARIETY OF THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES. AMONG THESE THE AUTHOR BRIEFLY OUTLINES THE FOLLOWING - GIVING THE PATIENT A SENSE OF PROPORTION, DEVELOPING THE PATIENT'S PERSONALITY STRUCTURE, AND ELICITING A CATHARTIC INSIGHT BY THE PATIENT INTO THE NATURE OF HIS DISTURBANCE.
