This book points out security danger points in a business and suggests ways to correct them in order to help the small business owner avoid theft and other related crimes.
Abstract
The guide points out the importance of preemployment investigation of potential employees. It cautions against placing complete trust in the long-time employee who arrives first at work, leaves last, and never takes a day off. The test also discusses embezzlement, bonding of employees, investigative coverage, and dishonest employee tactics. A chapter devoted to shoplifting details precautions against shoplifting, typical shoplifter tactics, the use of burglar alarms, and ways to protect the business' stock and cash. Protection against armed robbery and the use of an outside security agency are also discussed. Another security problem covered is how to protect a business against riots and civil disorders. The importance of business insurance, despite the often high cost of premiums, is emphasized. The book concludes that business owners should take every step necessary to maintain security and prevent business losses.
