This report describes United Nations activities related to crime prevention and criminal justice in its program budget, as well as activities relating to technical assistance and to the United Nations regional and interregional institutes for the prevention of crime and the treatment of offenders.
Abstract
Activities in the program budget focused on (1) crime prevention policy in the context of development and control of all forms of crime, either international or transnational; (2) the analysis of crime trends and the assessment of crime prevention strategies; and (3) guidelines and standards in crime prevention and criminal justice. Regional United Nations institutes conducted extensive research, held seminars and meetings, provided technical assistance and training, issued publications, and provided library and documentation services.
