The National Traffic Law Center of the American Prosecutors Research Institute developed this manual to help prosecutors prove prior driving under the influence (DUI) convictions from other jurisdictions.
Abstract
The manual contains the following information prosecutors need to prove prior DUI convictions: how to obtain an out-of- state driving record, what type of information is on the driving record, court contacts, relevant case law, and DUI statutes. The driving record section contains addresses and telephone numbers of State agencies where driving records can be obtained. The court section lists addresses and telephone numbers of court administrators who can assist in identifying the court in which the prior conviction was entered. State DUI statutes are listed, and sample forms for requesting DUI court conviction records and driving records are included.
