Abstract

Witnesses included representatives of pharmaceutical companies, law enforcement officials, health care providers, and a pharmacists' organization. They discussed the extent of the problem, the methods by which diverters obtain goods, corporate practices that the diverters exploit, and steps that can be taken to stop the diversion. Witnesses noted that the main problem stems from pharmaceuticals that are manufactured overseas or are reimported to the United States from abroad.
