This book provides information for security professionals concerned with the reduction or prevention of premises security claims and presents an extensive guide for the attorney in prosecuting or defending a claim of inadequate or negligent security.
Abstract
The format of providing information in response to specific questions carries the reader through a logical and sequential method for understanding the legal concepts of premises liability, the identification of reasonable and appropriate protection measures, and the acquisition of premises security information. The introduction to premises liability law is acknowledged to be generic, but provides the basic information needed by a lay person. The listing and explanation of security-related policies, procedures, and devices are beneficial for the non-security person. When used in conjunction with the information provided in the appendixes, adequate and complete information that pertains to a specific incident can be developed quickly. The detailed questions and identity of discoverable documents provide a manual for formulating interrogatories, requests for production of records and documents, and a foundation for depositions and trial testimony. The appendixes provide the information and sample forms necessary to substantiate plaintiff's or defendant's allegations. A 24-item bibliography
