Some comments are made in response to the meta-evaluations of a 5-year crime prevention policy in the Netherlands as reported by Polder and Van Vlaardingen (1992).
Abstract
One outcome of the crime prevention policy in the Netherlands is the mobilization of forces against crimes. Various public and private organizations now work together in these prevention projects. Efforts include an evaluation of public prevention and a criticism of the daily practice. No efforts are made to strengthen the bond of young people to society and the focus of the modal prevention practice is on the limitation of opportunities of crime. Proposals are recommended to improve the public prevention of crime. One proposal recommends a differentiated policy against specific offenses, specific situations, and specific groups of offenders. 16 references
