STATISTICS FROM 1971 TO 1974 CONCERNING A PROGRAM WHICH PROVIDED UP TO 14 DAYS FURLOUGH TIME TO CERTAIN INMATES IN CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS IN THE STATE OF LOWER SAXONY.
Abstract
IN 1973, THE LAST FULL YEAR REPORTED IN THE STUDY, 44 PERCENT OF THE INMATES IN THE STATE WERE GRANTED FURLOUGHS. THE PERCENTAGE OF INMATES WHO HAD TO BE RETURNED TO PRISON BY THE POLICE WAS ABOUT SIX PERCENT AND DID NOT VARY SIGNIFICANTLY SINCE THE PROGRAM BEGAN IN 1971. THE PERCENTAGE OF INMATES WHO RETURNED VOLUNTARILY, BUT WHO DID NOT RETURN ON TIME ROSE FROM 5.2 PERCENT IN 1971 TO 10.6 PERCENT IN 1973. --IN GERMAN
