This report analyzes factors contributing to Dane County Jail (Wisconsin) population figures and predicts future jail populations.

Abstract

Various factors may contribute to the increased population at the Dane County Jail. These include legislative actions, migratory patterns, public attitudes, etc. However, except for rising arrest figures, all such factors at best only indirectly affect jail populations. Thus, jail population forecasts, illustrated in the text by tables and graphs, only represent 'educated guesses.'
