This report tabulates statistics on the inmate population of Virginia State correctional facilities in November 1993.
Abstract
The average number of inmates imprisoned in Virginia Department of Corrections institutions during the reporting period was 17,859, an increase of 1.2 percent from the average inmate population in October 1993 and an increase of 5.4 percent from the average inmate population in November 1992. State facilities have an operational capacity of 15,359; therefore, the Virginia DOC was operating at 116.1 percent of capacity. Information on the average inmate population is generated by the State's Management Information System (MIS).
