THIS PRISON POPULATION FORECASTING MODEL MAKES USE OF A FIVE-MONTH MOVING POPULATION AVERAGE AND IS SENSITIVE TO ECONOMIC AND EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS - IT WAS FOUND THAT A PARABOLIC TREND EXISTED OVER A TWENTY-MONTH CYCLE.
Abstract
THE MODEL (WHICH IS NOT COMPLETELY DESCRIBED) WAS USED TO PREDICT POPULATIONS UP THROUGH JUNE 1976 AND WAS QUITE ACCURATE IN PREDICTING FOR PENNSYLVANIA STATE CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS.
