This report presents transcriptions of lectures given on public safety and violent crime, including causes and ways to confront and prevent these crimes.
Abstract
Speakers were five Chilean lawyers/politicians. Topics included diagnosis of the problem and directions toward resolution of the problem. Highlights suggest the importance of education; communication methods; and control and sanctions in police, judicial, and penal areas. Education needs described include more juvenile information programs, more alcohol and drug prevention programs, and more sports and recreation programs.
