AN EXPLORATORY STUDY OF THE MEASURED BEHAVIORAL STYLES OF PERSONS IN THE POLICE PROFESSION.
Abstract
MEASURED BEHAVIORAL STYLES REFER TO THE CONSISTENT WAYS AN INDIVIDUAL ORGANIZES HIS PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, AND ENERGY RESOURCES. FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS REPORT BEHAVIORAL STYLES ARE THOSE CHARACTERISTICS WHICH ARE HYPOTHESIZED TO BE RELEVANT TO JOB FUNCTIONING. A SAMPLE OF POLICEMEN WAS COMPARED WITH A SAMPLE OF SOCIAL WORKERS. A GROSS COMPARISON WAS MADE BETWEEN SOCIAL WORKERS AND POLICEMEN AS WELL AS COMPARISONS BETWEEN AGE GROUPS, RANKS, AND SUB-SPECIALTY. MAJOR EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON THE RESULTS OF THE AGE, RANK, AND SUB-SPECIALTY COMPARISONS WITHIN THE POLICE PROFESSION.
