The eight vehicles were the Ford Police Interceptor (3.27:1), Ford Police Interceptor (3.56:1), the Chevrolet Impala 9C1, the Chevrolet Impala 9C1 E85, the Chevrolet Tahoe PPV 2WD, the Chevrolet Tahoe PPV 2WD E85, the Dodge Charger (3.5 L), and the Dodge Charger (5.7 L). The motorcycles were the Harley Davidson Electra Glide FLHTP, the Harley Davidson Road King FLHP, the BMW Motorrad USA R1200RT-P, the Buell Ulysses, and the BMW 650 XP. The report describes the test equipment used during the acceleration, top speed, braking, and vehicle dynamics portions of the evaluation program. Detailed specifications are presented for each test vehicle, along with photographs. The testing determined each vehicle's high-speed pursuit or emergency handling characteristics and performance compared with other vehicles in the test group. Another test determined the ability of each vehicle to accelerate from a standing start to 60 mph, 80 mph, and 100 mph, and the distance required to reach 110 mph and 120 mph. The brake test involved determining the deceleration rate attained by each vehicle on 12 60-0 mph impending skid (threshold) stops, with ABS in operation if so equipped. Also tested was each vehicle's ability to provide a suitable environment for the patrol officer in the performance of his/her assigned tasks, as well as to accommodate the required communications and emergency warning equipment and the relative difficulty of such installations. The fuel economy of each vehicle was also tested. Extensive data figures and photos
