The relationship is discussed between training and educational priorities in the police recruit and probationer period.
Abstract
It concludes that one of the most pressing problems facing the police trainer is the integration of theory with practice in an appropriate training programme to equip the new police constable to effectively function within his community. A model to achieve this is proposed whereby the probationer receives a period of initial training, followed by a series of structured work experiences interpolated by classroom based activities.
