THE PROGRAM FROM A BRITISH SYMPOSIUM AND EXHIBITION ON POLICE TECHNOLOGY IS PRESENTED.
Abstract
THE SYMPOSIUM/EXHIBITION, HELD IN LONDON IN NOVEMBER 1977, WAS ORGANIZED JOINTLY BY THE ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION AND THE HOME OFFICE. THE PROGRAM PRESENTS THE AGENDA OF THE SYMPOSIUM, WHICH INCLUDED SESSIONS ON TACTICAL RESPONSE SYSTEMS, THE ROLE OF COMMUNICATIONS IN RESPONSE SYSTEMS, MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS, AND APPLICATIONS OF ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOGY IN CRIME DETECTION AND PREVENTION. IT ALSO PROVIDES PRODUCT SUMMARIES FOR EXHIBITORS. PRODUCTS INCLUDE COMPUTERIZED COMMAND, CONTROL, AND REPORTING SYSTEMS; RESOURCE ALLOCATION SYSTEMS; COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT; PERIMETER PROTECTION AND INTRUDER DETECTION SYSTEMS; AND AUTOMATED VEHICLE LOCATION SYSTEMS. ALSO INCLUDED IS A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF POLICE SERVICES IN THE UNITED KINGDOM, COVERING THE NUMBER AND SIZE OF POLICE FORCES, CONTROL AND ADMINISTRATION, FORCE STRUCTURE, COOPERATION AMONG FORCES, CENTRAL SERVICES, TRAINING, COMMUNICATIONS, THE POLICE NATIONAL COMPUTER, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, AND EQUIPMENT PROCUREMENT.
