THE WESTERN RHODE ISLAND LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMISSION'S EFFORT TO IMPROVE AND CENTRALIZE ALL RADIO COMMUNICATIONS.
Abstract
WHAT THE COMMISSION HAS DONE WITHIN ITS 325 SQUARE MILE JURISDICTION IS TO UPDATE THE ENTIRE COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM SO ALL OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENTS CAN NOW TALK TO ONE ANOTHER BY RADIO WITHOUT ANY LOSS OF TIME. THIS MEANT THAT SOME EXISTING RADIO EQUIPMENT HAD TO BE DUMPED, SOME HAD TO BE UPDATED, TO HANDLE ADDITIONAL FREQUENCIES, AND AN ENTIRELY NEW CONTROL CENTER HAD TO BE ACQUIRED.
