Abstract
A DISCUSSION OF THE BOSTON POLICE STRIKE OF 1919 BEGINS THE TRACING OF THE GROWING MOVEMENT TOWARD RECOGNITION OF BARGAINING NEEDS OF POLICE AS EMPLOYEES. CURRENT FORMS OF POLICE PROTEST-SUCH AS 'BLUE FLU' OR TRAFFIC TICKETING CAMPAIGNS- ARE DISCUSSED. THE LEGAL ISSUES RAISED WHEN PUBLIC EMPLOYEES STRIKE ARE TREATED AND THE STRIKE ALTERNATIVES OR COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AND ARBITRATION ARE COVERED.
