Abstract
CONSIDERATION IS GIVEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREAS OF THE INVESTIGATIVE PROCESS: ON-THE-STREET DETENTION, THE SEARCH FOR AND SEIZURE OF EVIDENCE, SELF-INCRIMINATION, THE CONFESSION, THE RIGHT TO COUNSEL, WIRETAPPING AND ELECTRONIC SURVEILLANCE, POLICE USE OF THE INFORMER, THE UNRULY DEFENDANT, ENTRAPMENT, DOUBLE JEOPARDY, AND THE QUESTION OF THE UNANIMOUS JURY VERDICT. EXCERPTS FROM THE OPINIONS OF THE SUPREME COURT ARE PRESENTED AND, IN CERTAIN IMPORTANT CASES, THE OPINIONS ARE QUOTED AT SOME LENGTH TO PROVIDE A BROAD VIEW OF THE COURT'S PHILOSOPHY AND RATIONALE.
