Abstract
The need for proper training and knowledge of recent changes in shooting techniques are explained, with emphasis on approaches taught at the FBI National Academy starting in 1982. The Weaver stance, the rollover prone position, and other developments are presented. Advice covers handling the gun, dealing with street situations, combat shooting, and avoiding having the gun grabbed away. The duty gun and off-duty gun, the gun rig, the backup gun, ammunition, and the relative merits of revolvers and automatics are also discussed. Information is also given on specific types of guns and on defensive weapons such as the Kubotan. Comments are also included on police firearms training.
