A STUDY TO DETERMINE COST-EFFECTIVE MEASURES TO BE USED IN SECURING POLICE FACILITIES AGAINST ATTACKS AIMED AT DESTROYING PROPERTY AND/OR KILLING OR MAIMING POLICE PERSONNEL.
Abstract
FOLLOWING A DISCUSSION OF THE METHODOLOGY USED BY THE STUDY, VARIOUS DATA ARE PRESENTED THAT WERE COLLECTED ON THREATS AND INCIDENTS THAT WERE PERPETRATED ON POLICE FACILITIES IN THE PAST. THESE DATA WERE USED TO DETERMINE THREAT CHARACTERISTICS AND VULNERABILITIES, AND THE REQUIREMENTS OF A SECURITY SYSTEM RESIGNED TO NEGATE THREAT EFFECTIVENESS IN EXPLOITING THE VULNERABILITIES. VARIOUS TECHNIQUES ARE DISCUSSED THAT ARE USED IN SECURITY SYSTEM ENGINEERING, AND SPECIFIC TECHNIQUES ARE SELECTED THAT ARE CONSISTENT WITH THE PREVIOUSLY IDENTIFIED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION TO POLICE FACILITY SECURITY. THERE IS A SUMMARY OF SECURITY SYSTEM RECOMMENDATIONS, AND THE COSTS OF THE EQUIPMENT ARE GIVEN. THE FINAL SECTION DISCUSSES THE POLICE FACILITY PLANNING PROCESS WITH EMPHASIS ON PROVIDING A SECURE FACILITY.
