Abstract
THE PSYCHOLOGIST WITH THE LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT DISCUSSES THE PROBLEMS OF SELECTING THE PROPER PERSON FOR HIS JOB, THE ADJUSTMENTS THAT AN IN-HOUSE PSYCHOLOGIST MUST UNDERGO, AND THE DIVERSE FUNCTIONS A PSYCHOLOGIST MAY SERVE. THE PSYCHOLOGIST'S JOB COULD INCLUDE AIDING IN THE SELECTION AND TRAINING OF POLICE OFFICERS AND COUNSELING POLICEMEN IN COMMUNITY RELATIONS. THE POLICE PSYCHOLOGIST WOULD ALSO ACT AS A LIAISON WITH OTHER PROFESSIONALS IN HIS CAPACITY AS RESEARCH ASSISTANT FOR THE DEPARTMENT.
