Abstract
"Protecting the Homeland: Focusing on Prevention and State, Local, and Tribal Law Enforcement" describes new structures and processes that support terrorism prevention efforts, aid in the development of intelligence, and assist law enforcement efforts. "Local Policing: Expanding Reach With Limited Resources Through Fusion Centers" explains how fusion centers process information in a manner that adds analytical value and focuses dissemination toward those who need to know specific pieces of information. "Law Enforcement Operations Working Group Focuses Efforts on Resource Typing" describes what the working group is doing in labeling and defining law-enforcement resource types in order to facilitate the use of a common terminology in interagency planning for an incident or planned event." Radicalization to Violence: What It Is, and What It Isn't" examines the dynamics and processes by which an ideological message and belief system evolves from being moderate toward extreme beliefs and violence. "Unifying Processes for Threat Reporting and Information Sharing to Prevent Terrorist Attacks" proposes a means for unifying instructions on how the public and law enforcement personnel should report suspicious activity for preventing terrorist attacks. "Closing the Case: Solving Violent Crimes Quickly and Efficiently with Public Records" explains the nature and benefits of public records - which contain information filed or recorded by government agencies - in the investigation of violent crimes.
