BOTH MASSACHUSETTS AND NEW ENGLAND COMPARE FAVORABLY WITH THE REST OF THE COUNTRY IN REGARD TO RATES OF MURDER, RAPE, AND AGGRAVATED ASSAULT AND LESS FAVORABLY IN REGARD TO RATES OF ROBBERY, BURGLARY, LARCENY, AND AUTO THEFT.
