DEVELOPMENT AND DESCRIPTION OF A FACIAL IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM FOR POLICE INVOLVING INTERCHANGEABLE PHOTOGRAPHIC FACIAL PARTS.
Abstract
THIS SYSTEM WAS DEVELOPED IN BRITAIN BETWEEN 1968 AND 1974. PHOTOGRAPHS FROM POLICE ARCHIVES WERE ENLARGED TO THE SAME SIZE. INTERCHANGEABLE SECTIONS PICTURING THE NOSE, EYES, MOUTH, CHIN, AND FOREHEAD/HAIR WERE MADE FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHS. DIFFERENT ACCESSORIES, SUCH AS HAIR, EYEGLASSES, AGE LINES, OR BEARDS CAN ALSO BE ADDED. PHOTO-KITS FOR MALE CAUCASIAN AND AFRO-ASIAN MALES ARE AVAILABLE FOR POLICE USE. THE MALE CAUCASIAN SET ALONE HAS THE CAPACITY TO COMPOSE APPROXIMATELY 15 BILLION FACES. A FEMALE PHOTO-KIT IS ALSO UNDER DEVELOPMENT.
