Abstract
THE SERIES OF SURVEYS CONCERNING THE NUMBER OF VISITORS EXPECTED COVERED THE FOLLOWING AREAS: TOTAL NUMBER OF TOURISTS EXPECTED (BREAKDOWN BY MONTH AND LENGTH OF STAY); DEMOGRAPHIC BREAKDOWN OF TOURISTS; ANTICIPATED MODES OF TRANSPORTATION TO BE USED COMING TO PHILADELPHIA AND DURING STAY; AND MAJOR INTERESTS OF TOURISTS IN PHILADELPHIA. PROBLEMS OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM AND SUGGESTIONS FOR DEALING WITH THEM RELATED TO THE AREAS OF TRAFFIC, NON-CRIMINAL SERVICES, CRIME, ARRAIGNMENT, PRETRIAL DETENTION, AND THE YOUTH STUDY CENTER (FOR RUNAWAY JUVENILES). SPECIAL CONCERNS RELATED TO THE INDEPENDENCE MALL AND THE EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS ARE ALSO DISCUSSED. AN APPENDIX PRESENTS SUGGESTIONS RECEIVED FROM THE NEW YORK POLICE DEPARTMENT, A LISTING OF PEOPLE CONSULTED, A PRELIMINARY CALENDAR OF EVENTS FOR 1976, AS WELL AS THE STATISTICAL DATA FOR THE VISITOR PROJECTIONS.
