THIS SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS IDENTIFIES THE WHITE COLLAR CRIMINAL AS PREOCCUPIED WITH MATERIAL WEALTH, OVERLY OPTIMISTIC ABOUT NOT GETTING CAUGHT, EGOCENTRIC, AND UNABLE TO RELATE SOCIALLY OR SEXUALLY WITH OTHERS.
Abstract
ALSO DISCUSSED IS THE WHITE COLLAR CRIMINAL'S PERCEPTION OF HIS ACTIONS AS NECESSARY OR EXPECTED BY SOCIETY AND NOT REALLY 'ILLEGAL'. EXCERPTS FROM THE MEMOIRS OF SELF-MADE MEN SCUH AS CARNEGIE, ROCKEFELLER, AND PIERPONT ARE CITED TO ILLUSTRATE THIS ETHICAL HYPOCRISY. THE CONTRIBUTION TO AND INFLUENCE OF SOCIETY'S TOLERANCE OF WHITE COLLAR AND OTHER ECONOMIC CRIMES ON THE PERSONALITY OF THE WHITE COLLARE CRIMINAL IS DISCUSSED. --IN FRENCH
