PAPERS DEALING WITH RESIDENTIAL AND NONRESIDENTIAL BURGLARY PATTERNS AND CYCLICAL CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR.
Abstract
THE FIRST PAPER DISCUSSES THE NATURE AND PATTERNING OF RESIDENTIAL AND NON-RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES BY CONSIDERING THE INTERACTION BETWEEN THE OFFENDER, THE CITIZEN, AND THE LAW ENFORCEMENT COMPONENT OF THE POLITICAL JURISDICTION. THE SPECIFIC GEOGRAPHICAL AREA CONCERNED IS FAIRFAX COUNTY, VIRGINIA, PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY MARYLAND, AND WASHINGTON, D.C. THE AUTHOR ANALYZES THE MANNER IN WHICH BURGLARIES ARE DISTRIBUTED THROUGH SPACE AND TIME AND THE SOCIAL CHARACTERISTICS WHICH ARE CORRELATED WITH BURGLARIES. PRACTICAL SUGGESTIONS FOR CHANGING THE PATTERNING OF BURGLARIES ARE GIVEN. A SECOND PAPER DEALS WITH CYCLICAL BEHAVIOR, ESPECIALLY CYCLICAL CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR.
