This manual presents 476 situations that police personnel might encounter in their daily work and gives brief summaries of the actions to take and the laws applicable to each situation.
Abstract
The manual provides operational guidelines for use by patrol officers, detectives, juvenile officers, vice officers, and traffic officers during their work in the field. The guidelines are also intended for use in recruit classes and in evaluating probationary candidates. First-line supervisors can use the manual as part of an evaluative process, and management can use it to make policies operational. Individual sections cover general problems, disturbances of the police, domestic problems, drunkenness, arrests, traffic situations, vice and narcotics offenses, sex offenses, and situations involving juveniles. Also described are the handling of mental cases, civil problems, investigations, animals, Federal offenses, and personnel problems. Index.
