This report provides a brief overview of the organized crime activities of outlaw motorcycle gangs in the United States.
Abstract
Following a review of the evolution of motorcycle gangs, with an emphasis on the "Big Four," the overview provides an update on the activities of the five largest gangs. These are the Hells Angels, Pagans, Outlaws, Bandidos, and the Sons of Silence. Other dominant outlaw motorcycle gangs in the United States are then profiled. Associations between outlaw motorcycle gangs and other crime groups are then discussed. The other crime groups include white supremacy groups, prison gangs, and traditional organized crime. A section on the criminal activity of outlaw motorcycle gangs addresses motorcycle thefts, prostitution, money laundering, gang violence, illegal weapons, and narcotics. The report predicts that through the international networks established by outlaw motorcycle gangs, methamphetamine will become the drug of choice throughout the country. Outlaw motorcycle gangs will continue to move into legitimate businesses as they persuade the public of their "new image" and seek new ways to launder money. Wars and violence will continue as gangs try to expand their operations into new territories and law enforcement efforts continue to disrupt their operations. Attached maps of chapter locations
