This article describes one family's ordeal with learning disability and delinquency.
Abstract
This case study of one family's handling of their son's problems, which includes trouble in school and with the law, illustrates the dilemma in dealing with learning disabilities and delinquency. The son was troubled by his inability to learn at school, feelings of inadequacy and isolation. The case illustrates that family members' attitudes and behavior influence what will happen to a child with a learning disability. Much introspection is needed both on the part of the family and the child in order to help determine the child's future. Educational evaluations are recommended to help formulate short-term and long-term goals for the child.
